Friedemann and Prisca discuss the research project “On the materiality of (forced) migration" which was a collaboration between the university of Göttingen, the Museum Friedland and and the exhibition agency "Die Exponauten" (https://materialitaet-migration.de/en/). Friedemann then talks about his article in which he analysed objects and migration “From biographies to biographical horizons: on life courses and things in forced migrations”, the article in part of the book “Material Culture and (Forced) Migration” published in February 2022 by UCL Press.

 

Friedemann Yi-Neumann is an anthropologist at the University of Göttingen. He works on forced migration and life in asylum reception from a perspective on things and home-making. His focus areas are material culture, forced migration and (post-)migration, asylum reception, dispossessions, homes, urban anthropology and curatorial engagements.
